So far we are very happy with this item, which we are planning to use as a bassinet when the baby arrives. It is a nice size and 100% more sturdy than the bassinet we used with our first baby. It set up very quickly and easily and I think it will be quite easy to travel with because it is so compact. I like, too, that it is so light-weight and easy to move around the room. I was also very happy with the "mattress" that it comes with. Our full size pack n play (edie bauer) has a terrible mattress that is quite hard and barely lays flat, our son barely ever was able to sleep on it. The Graco pad is nicely padded but still firm, which is typically recommended for young babies. If anything, I don't see much of a purpose for the sun shade since I will be using it indoors. It's not adjustable so it has to be either up as pictured or pulled off the crib entirely. I think we will just be storing it away.
Sidebar: I purchased the Carter's jersey bassinet fitted sheet. They are nice and soft and fit the mattress perfectly. I was hesitant to buy the Graco brand since they seem to have such bad reviews.

My wife and I were against buying a bassinets simply because it would only be used for a few months then it would just take up space. Not to mention most bassinets are ugly and the only decent looking ones are crazy expensive. When we both saw this play pen we new we found a happy medium.
Set up was easy right out of the box. The instructions make things go really fast. Snap the arms up, then push down on the middle. The stages pad has slots that metal bars slide through. These metal bars snap into the top corners of the crib. It is light and easy to move around. It is about 2ft wide by 3ft long and this fit perfectly in our bedroom without getting in the way.
I really like the fact that we will be able to use this play pen for many years to come. It compact enough that we can take it anywhere with worrying about space. It's big enough that I think even an 18month old could use it as a play pen with out feeling claustophobic.
I would highly recommend this play pen/bassinet to any shop savy parent who wants their baby in their room for the first couple of months, but doesn't want to feel like they're wasting money. Let's not forget the fact that it is also a Play pen!
Bottom line- great item for a great price.

I have set up 3 of these pack&plays for our church nursery to use.... These do not take up much space, which is very limited, and the 3 different levels give us more ease when catering to our little ones' needs. They were very easy to set up and are just as easily moved if they are needed elsewhere.
